Holiday meal to serve 400 military troops and their families at Charlotte Motor Speedway

For the third consecutive year, Lowe’s is teaming up with the USO of North Carolina and the Charlotte Motor Speedway to provide dinner for 400 individuals, comprising military troops and their families, on Thanksgiving Day. The afternoon will include a visit from Santa Claus, a special kid’s room and a performance by all-American country singer Ansel Brown.

In addition, guests will receive free admission to Speedway Christmas, the area’s premier holiday lights extravaganza in the infield of the 1.5-mile superspeedway. Many participants will also be picking up Christmas trees they reserved, which were donated by Happy Holidays.

Thanksgiving event details:
Date: Thursday, Nov. 22

Time: 3:00 p.m. – Doors open and Santa arrives!

4:00 – 6:00 p.m. – Traditional Thanksgiving feast

5:30 p.m. – Ansel Brown set
CMA Country Recording Artist Ansel Brown grew up in a NAVY family, his dad a 30 year veteran. When he conceived his song "Our Country" he had no idea of the impact the song would have on our war veterans, military men and women, families of the military and those that simply love the greatness of our beloved nation and all those that have served. In his deep-seated belief in our men and women in uniform, who have served our country, he hopes that this song reminds all that, FREEDOM IS NEVER FREE.

Ansel's wife Lisa Brown performs the song with him in American Sign Language and it is a beautiful sight to behold. Together they capture the spirit and essence of the song in a way that few others could– one with voice the other with beauty.

6:00 p.m. – Attendees will receive free passes to Speedway Christmas, one of the largest holiday light shows in the United States. The show includes nearly 800 displays and eight million holiday bulbs plus the Speedway Christmas Village, which will feature a Bethlehem Village with live actors and animals, a petting zoo, games and activities in Santa’s Workshop, as well as the chance to visit Santa Claus for a photo.

Location: Charlotte Motor Speedway
5555 Concord Parkway S
Concord, NC 28027

**Note: The dinner will be held at "The Speedway Club at Charlotte Motor Speedway," which is located on the 5th floor of Smith Tower at the speedway's main entrance. Media are advised to park on either side of the avenue of flags and enter the first floor lobby. Take the elevators to the 5th floor of The Speedway Club.

Who: Troops and USO of NC representatives will be available for interviews.
